Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Strategy and Planning

The HCA Gulf Coast Division is looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Strategy and Planning.

The AVP Strategy and Planning is responsible for the development and monitoring of business strategies and opportunities for the Gulf Coast Division hospitals.

  • Works collaboratively with Gulf Coast facility executive leadership to develop, document, monitor, and coordinate long-range strategies and plans for services, facilities and operations of the organization
  • Builds consensus in support of these strategies and plans
  • Assesses programmatic strengths and weaknesses
  • Drives and maintains project management of the division's strategies
  • Facilitates service line planning across the Division with Hospital and Division leadership
  • Identifies and assesses business opportunities which may include the evaluation of potential mergers and acquisitions.
  • Works with Decision Support to Obtain and analyze data regarding:
    • Competitive environment in the Gulf Coast Division
    • Market share data
    • Other market data
  • Leads the development of the Division Strategic Plan each year and planning updates throughout the year
  • Conducts special studies to evaluate and develop new programs and services.
  • Aligns development and strategic planning with marketing, physician sales and physician recruiting

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree in healthcare administration or related or business field preferred.
  • Seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in health care industry to include demonstrated success in an administrative capacity with responsibilities related to strategy and business development.
  • Emphasis on inpatient service line development, physician arrangements, and outreach skills a must.
  • Ability to develop and coordinate short and long range planning activities.
  • Project management experience. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation, training and facilitation skills.
  • Strong market awareness and demonstrated ability to develop relationships that contribute to development and growth objectives.
  • Thorough knowledge of all products and services offered by Gulf Coast Division facilities.
  • Ability to work successfully in a highly complex organization with matrix reporting relationships.
