Job Summary
Assists in providing patient care under the direct supervision and control of a registered nurse.

Essential Functions
  • Performs personal care for the comfort and well being of the patient.
  • Assists with food service, feeds patients and records dietary intake.
  • Measures & records intake and output including urine, drainage from any wound or device, gastric suction, bowel function.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Assists with simple non-sterile dressing changes.
  • Assists patients with transfers to bed, wheelchair, and stretcher.
  • Turns and positions patient. Makes occupied & unoccupied beds.
  • Provides instructions to patients & family members according to approved protocols and/or the plan of care under supervision of the RN.
Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 75 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Completion of an approved Nurse Aide II Training Program or student nurses meeting the listing requirements of the Nurse Aide Registry required. Current listing with the Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide II and Nurse Aide I by North Carolina Division of Facility Services (DFS) required. CPR required.
