SVP/Director of Marketing

Reports to: EVP/Consumer Banking Executive
Supervises: Digital Marketing Manager, Sales and Marketing Coordinator, Creative Services Specialist
FLSA Designation: Exempt
Salary Grade: 13
Location: 71 N Market Street, Asheville NC 28801

Role Summary:

The SVP/Director of Marketing is responsible for ensuring brand consistency in all delivery, advertising, and investor relations. Oversees all marketing, customer communications, and public relations activities for the bank. Identifies, develops and implements programs and initiatives that drive customer acquisition, retention, and cross-sell and further perpetuates the HomeTrust brand within our footprint.

Partners closely with sales and market leadership, product managers, and other group/division heads across the bank to create and execute strategic marketing plans that support each business' objectives and drive meaningful financial results.

Director is accountable for the entire marketing operations and strategies and serves as primary media contact for the bank.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position requires sound and proven leadership abilities, effective written and verbal communication skills, strong and demonstrable analytical abilities, advanced technology systems skills, strong relationship skills and being politically savvy.

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the marketing group. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in the recruiting, interview and hiring process; mentoring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; ensuring that all projects are completed on time, on budget, and on strategy; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Specific Job Functions:
  • Defends and enhances the bank's brand in all matters
  • Ensures message clarity and common look, feel, and touch in all delivery channel, advertising, and investor relations
  • Champions and vigorously defends the presentation of all customer-facing messaging/communications in tone, accuracy, and relevancy
  • Ensures that all marketing plans, programs, and initiatives are created in close partnership with business unit leadership, and executed on time, on budget, and on strategy
  • Contributes to overall strategic plan objectives to increase market share and increase brand awareness
  • Effectively identifies, procures, and manages external vendors/partners that will capably assist in execution of our programs and strategies
  • Coordinates all market research to continually identify trends in customer behaviors and preferences
  • Maintains market awareness of the offerings of the industry
  • Develops and executes all account acquisition, retention, and cross-sell programs, and ensures timely and accurate reporting of program results
  • Consults with branches and sales leadership on program effectiveness and relays actionable feedback to internal and external marketing partners
  • Oversees and prepares status reports, newsletters, and other bank communications assuring consistent and pertinent messaging
  • Oversees all bank sponsorships and promotional events
  • Oversees and directs effective program for charitable contribution activities for the bank assuring maximum visibility and cost-effectiveness
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Deep understanding of all components of the marketing mix - with a particular emphasis on digital mediums
  • Thorough knowledge of all bank line of business products, services, service markets and offerings
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional peers across the bank
  • Well-developed strategic planning skills; experience translating strategic plans into strong tactical execution
  • Strong teamwork orientation with an ability to work effectively in a constantly changing environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and communications skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing analytics and its role in driving effective acquisition programs
  • Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance, including fair lending laws

Job Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing or related field, masters degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven to 10 years of marketing in financial services
  • Demonstrated success with media relations, branding, market research and public relations
  • Valid driver's license required
