Within hours of my position being posted on this website, I received dozens of online applications, giving me immediate opportunities to review qualifications as well as contact those appearing most qualified. Over the period of the next ten days, I received somewhere between 65 and 70 applications (I finally gave up trying to count them all), and would say at least a dozen were highly qualified, and 2-3 dozen met the minimum criteria as stated in the ad. These applications came from all over the Southeast, not just the Asheville area, proving that online placements reach a far wider pool of candidates. This ad was also a small fraction of the cost our local newspaper, the Asheville Citizen-Times wanted for a single Sunday ad placement…less than 20% of the cost, in fact. In retrospect, even if we had been foolish enough to place an ad in the local paper, I don’t believe we would have received anything close to the response we received through LOCALJOBS.COM.
