Our Annual Holiday Event will be at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Knoxville on December 8, 2009.
Every TVHRA member is invited to a Holiday Ball.
The activities include Happy Hour starting at 5:30 followed by a festive holiday dinner, music by the Brad Walker Orchestra. And EXTRA this year will be Ballroom dancing lessons by the Academy Ballroom. So bring you dancing shoes, your favorite partner and enjoy the evening with your TVHRA friends.
This is a MEMBERS only event and each member is encouraged to bring one guest. Cost is only $18.00 per person. There will not be online registration for the December meeting.

The Tennessee State Council partnered with Effective Resources, Inc. to produce a Salary Survey for Tennessee this year. Effective Resources had the salary survey available at the 2009 state hr conference. TVHRA CAREER CENTER - The purpose of the TVHRA Career Center is to provide support, motivation and mentoring to area human resource professionals who are seeking a career transition, conducting a job search or seeking career development. The group meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m.

Study Group The fall study group started September 14, 2009. Watch this newsletter for the next study group dates! If you are a TVHRA member your cost is $100. To qualify for the member price you must be a member in good standing at the time you register for the study group. Cost is $145 for non-members. More details on the Certification page.

TVHRA meets the second Tuesday of each month at Rothchilds Catering & Conference Center located at Baron's Place at 8807 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN. Please join us for networking at 5:30 followed by the Buffet Dinner at 6:00. Our meetings are usually over around 8:00 p.m.

Did you miss a meeting? We kicked off the year in January with a great meeting with Meagan Johnson, C.S.P - Zap the Gap - Understanding Multiple Generations in the Workplace! We plan to link her PowerPoint as soon as we receive it. At our February meeting our own Tim McConnell discussed the changing labor and employment law [see PowerPoint below]. In March Lisa Collins Werner discussed Managing Conflict in the Workplace. At our April meeting Richard Hinton with Family Business Solutions, Inc. discussed hiring practices and the different techniques used by HR professionals. In May over 100 or our members and guests enjoyed a GREAT 3-B Party...that stands for "Blues, BBQ, and Beer"! The June program, Michael Nimer, discussed the key areas that impact the effectiveness of a company’s relocation program. Our July meeting was our Diversity meeting. We listened to a GREAT moderated panel of Moderator, Tyvi Small, Coordinator of Diversity Initiatives at the University of Tennessee. The panelists were Angela Conner of SunTrust Bank, Inc., Brandi Matson of Edfinancial Services and Delores Mitchell of ScrippsNetworks. Our annual industry tour was a U.T. we toured the new Haslam building and the sky boxes at Neyland Stadium. See pictures on our Events page. The September meeting topic was Taking Charge of Your Health Plan. We learned how to stay organized at our October meeting. November is our charity month and KARM was the 2009 charity. Dr. Shannon Wilson, Licensed Clinical with the Bearden Psychological and Wellness Center, PLLC taught us how to COPE and get ready for all of the end of the year activities.
