This position will be responsible for sales and use tax planning with a focus on Business Development and Construction projects, tracking state law changes, assisting in planning and writing tax legislation, and assisting with audit research and defense. Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing support to major project planning and construction groups for economic evaluation and tax compliance purposes, executing projects as requested by management, and will require extensive knowledge of sales and use tax law as well as strong research skills for determining taxability in all states.
Coordinate and control state sales & use tax as it applies to Business Development and Construction projects.
* Communicate directly with business development and project planning groups to assist in determining the economic impact of sales and use taxes on project planning and construction.
* Determine if specific exemptions apply to particular projects and if special exemptions are available and possibly apply.
* Determine what licenses applications, or exemption applications, need to be filed once projects are approved as well as determining if there are other tax saving or planning opportunities.
* Research and provide written guidance of state sales tax exemptions and requirements to project planners, buyers, accountants, etc.
* Provide assistance in writing tax language for equipment purchasing and EPC type construction contracts in all states.
Provide assistance and support of state sales & use tax audits.
* Develop technical and factual support to assist in sales & use tax audits. Involves working with auditors, outside consultants, and tax management.
* Work with IT in order to develop best practice processes for providing data to support audits for all entities.
* Research audit issues and develop tax strategies for defending audit positions.
* Review proposed and final settlement documents for accuracy and completeness.
Provide support for tax litigation.
* Develop factual documentation, analytical calculations and schedules to support tax litigation. Includes working with internal/external attorneys, outside consultants, and internal personnel to develop case position.
Monitor sate tax rulings, cases, legislation and periodicals that impact the company in order to maintain a tax awareness and ability to identify potential tax issues, tax exposures, tax compliance problem areas, tax planning and savings opportunities.
* Identify and support potential issues before they develop to help mitigate audit exposures.
* Assists in state tax planning and research as needed to minimize sales & use tax and develop tax savings ideas.
* Identify legislation that materially impacts Duke companies and bring to management's attention.

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
* 6 to 8 years of direct related Sales & Use tax experience
* Computer literate

* Working knowledge of tax and accounting software technologies
* Ability to multi-task

* Research, understand, and stay up-to-date on the latest search engine algorithms, rules, techniques and trends
Support other e-mail and online marketing initiatives for eChannels team:
* Help develop, code and deploy emails for all customer segments
* Understanding of how to use email marketing campaign tool
* Perform e-mail campaign analysis and provide reporting to internal clients

Basic Qualifications:
* A minimum of 4 years of full-time SEM/SEO experience for a medium to large size company or agency.

The Circuit Design Specialist position handles the orders for customers who are either already on our network or are new customers connecting to the DN network for the first time. The Circuit Design Specialist position will also work with other carriers to complete circuits for customers who are off-net to DukeNet. The Design Specialist performs the installation of the new circuits on the equipment via standard software that is applicable to the equipment installed at the customer location. The Specialist will also test complex circuit designs that are being implemented for customers. The Circuit Design Specialist may also be required to assist less experienced specialists on the team as it relates to circuit design and provisioning. At this level, the Specialist is viewed by team as an expert with in-depth knowledge of circuit design and provisioning. The Circuit Design Specialist will also be required to assist in the resolution of moderately complex issues and advises lower level specialists of changes and revisions to procedures.
Duties and responsibilities include evaluating a variety of equipment and facility options to determine the best routing for circuits ordered on the DukeNet Network; working with the Network Operations center to identify and resolve issues in order to deliver service to the customer on the DukeNet network; writing orders for field technicians to work and provision circuits on the DukeNet network; coordinating with customers and telecom providers to ensure that requirements are identified and circuit design solutions are acceptable as it relates to third party options; improving operational integrity and provide alternative circuit routing to eliminate potential failure points in the DukeNet network; redesigning customer circuits including routing options and new rules and evaluating circuit routing options and determines new routes for existing on-net circuits.
Basic Qualifications:
* Two year technical degree and 3 years experience in Telecom or related field or 5 years experience in Telecom or related field.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with some direct supervision or review.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of telecom transport technologies.
* Previous field experience configuring Cisco, Fujitsu or Nortel equipment or equivalent equipment from comparable vendors.
Desired Qualifications:
* Understanding of the DukeNet network configuration and equipment.
* Experience troubleshooting & provisioning Layer 1 transport systems including SONET & DWDM; Ethernet and Layer 2 provisioning experience recommended.
* Experience in circuit design and provisioning using Cisco, Fujitsu or Nortel equipment.
* Experience on other telecom or communication company networks doing circuit configuration and/or circuit design.
