Posting Job Title Assoc Engineer, Technical Security Requisition # 121763BR Location United States - North Carolina - Charlotte Area of Interest Information Technology Services Position Type Full Time Posting Job Description The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks an Associate Technical Security Engineer for our IT Security and Compliance Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position. Essential Job Functions: Strategy & Planning . Collaborate with department management, supervisors, and/or team members to assess near- and long-term technical security needs. . Create and maintain documentation as it relates to security monitoring, testing, and control configuration, processes, and service records. . Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for technical security administration, usage, and disaster recovery. . Develop technical security standards related to system, network, and application security practices. Acquisition & Deployment . Assist with deployment of company security infrastructure including authentication, end-point, testing, encryption, and monitoring systems. . Conduct research on information security products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the information security industry. . Support efforts related to new and existing information security equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. . Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure information security products and services. Operational Management . Augment assessments of effectiveness and efficiency of existing security systems; Contribute to development and implementation strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. . Support proposals and creation efforts of system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts related to information security to system programmer and development teams. . Assist with server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. . Create and maintain security documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records. . Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems. . Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports. . Assist with configuration activities of information security systems to ensure their smooth and reliable operation in fulfilling business objectives and processes. . Provide assistance with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices as it relates to information security monitoring and controls. . Support activities related to security asset management, including maintenance of security component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Job Requirements: Knowledge & Experience . Knowledge and familiarity with information security technology design, development, and implementation. . Experience with security principles and general security management best practices. . Some hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Windows, UNIX (Linux, AIX, HPUX, Solaris, etc), TCP/IP, etc. . Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and methodologies. . Cognizant of information security incident response and forensics tools and methodologies . Some hardware and software troubleshooting experience. . Exposure to McAfee and PGP product lines. . Familiar with testing tools and procedures for information security. . Aware of data privacy practices and laws. . Potentially staff an on-call rotation Preferred Qualifications: . Secure Software development experience and/or solid scripting/coding skills . Previous exposure on a Computer Incident or Emergency Response Team . Knowledge of Penetration Testing tools and methodologies . Familiar of cryptographic standards, ciphers, algorithms and PKI . Information Technology/Security education, such as Networking 101, Firewalls, Routers..etc. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience. Travel: 5%
