Medical Assistant – Certified
Summit Medical Group is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant with phone experience to work in a Pediatric and Internal Medicine practice in Jefferson City . The qualified candidate will also be certified to perform injections and chest and extremities X-Ray certification is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares patients for examinations and procedures according to physician preferences.
• Uses good skills in recording vital signs of patients, including pulse, blood pressure, height, weight, etc.
• Uses good clinical skills in performing appropriate procedures, such as phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, holter monitors, etc.
• Uses good radiological skills in the taking and processing of X-Rays, per site needs.
• Uses good clinical skills in assisting the physician(s) with procedures, as well as administering medications and conducting patient educations.
• Handles phone nursing when appropriate, to include triaging, pre-certs, referrals, calling in prescriptions, etc.
• Performs clerical duties necessary for the physician(s) to see patients, contacts patients regarding test results or for other related reasons as directed.
• If needed, schedules patient appointments with efficient use of clinical time slots.
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures, and follows state and federal regulations, such as OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality, both internally and externally.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
• Skills in basic clinical procedures, such as phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, holter monitors, etc., as needed.
• Skills in radiological procedures.
• Skills in verbal communication.
• Ability to apply policies and principles to solve everyday problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Ability to work effectively with physicians, patients, staff and the public.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required, prefer additional vocational or college credits.
EXPERIENCE: At least 6 months in a similar clinical setting preferred. Phlebotomy and medical office experience required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Certification as a Medical Assistant required. Chest and Extremities Certification a plus.
