Animal Hospital of North Asheville currently has an opening for a full time Exam Room Assistant. We are located at 1 Beaverdam Road, at the intersection of Merrimon Avenue and Beaverdam Road. The hospital has been at this location for 30 years, and is staffed with 8 doctors, 10 receptionists, 22 technicians, a hospital manager, finance manager and assistant. We practice high quality medicine, surgery, dental, and diagnostics for cats and dogs. The hospital was the first hospital in Asheville to be certified by the American Animal Hospital Association.
This individual will be working as an extension of the veterinarian in the exam room to obtain a complete medical history of the pet from the client, discuss treatment options, give estimates of cost, and most importantly, educate the client concerning both routine and medical care that the pet needs at home. In addition, the Exam Room Assistant will obtain and record the patient weight, vitals, and assist in the physical exam. The Exam Room Assistant will usually assist the same veterinarian and will, therefore, become familiar with the patients and clients.
While familiarity with dogs and cats is necessary, no formal training is required as we are willing to train an individual who exhibits a love of animals and people, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a desire to learn. Individuals with any medical or veterinary experience are encouraged to apply.
Our staff is given opportunities for continuing education as well as in-hospital education and training during our weekly meetings and training sessions. This is a hospital with state of the art equipment and a desire for each person to reach their personal potential.
The benefits for full time employees are: The hospital currently pays 100% of employee health and dental insurance premiums, uniforms, 401K retirement program, disability insurance, 128 hours PTO (paid time off) for the first year which includes 48 hours for holidays, weekly paid staff meetings, continuing education, jury duty pay, funeral leave pay, and up to $1200.00 annually for personal pet health care along with service and product discounts. Salary is commensurate with experience.
